    In cold water there is something about bucktail that smallmouths love so in addition to being a great cold water walleye bait, this is one of my top smallmouth baits as well. I typically use the 1/4 oz for 10-20 feet and the 3/8 for 20-30...slide these over main lake humps early in the spring and late in the fall and you'll be glad you did.

    I'm a big fan of the Deep-Vee Jig. The head shape and hook are ideal for a lot of walleye fishing applications. The addition of hair can be useful in many situations, including river fish situations and up in shallow water. The hair slows the drop speed quite a bit, so keep that in mind when deciding which size you're going to throw.
